Graduation gown services
At J.Wippell & Co. Ltd we are here to help with your graduation gowning requirements. To find out more about each stage of our graduation gowning service, select the links below:
You can choose to either hire or buy your robes. It is recommended that you order the hire or purchase of your robes well in advance of your graduation. To place your order for your graduation robes, please visit the ‘order’ page and select your university or college from the options.
You will need the following information:
- Your student ID
- Your qualification/ award level
- Your measurements
- Your ceremony date and time
The following measurements are required to order your robes. These measurements are used to ensure the robe allocated is the correct size to provide a comfort, secure fit during your graduation.
- Head circumference
Your order is delivered on site to the collection point where we will also provide a dressing service.
The full details of the collection time and location, as well as returns will be contained within your order confirmation or can be viewed in the ‘My Account’ area when you log in.
All orders are for collection only and not posted.
We will be on site at graduation with experienced staff, who will help ensure your robes are put on correctly.
- Gown – This is the coat style, open fornted robe. Usually varing between different award levels.
- Hood – The hood is unique to your place of study. The colours or styling will vary with the level of award. Your hood style and colour will be shown and available to view on your order.
- A hat or bonnet – the hat or mortarboard is fitted and contains elastic at the back to hold the item in place. Doctoral bonnets are individually sized.
The hood is held in place on the gown with Velcro, so no pins are needed.
If you require a private area for dressing or have any other requirements please let us know by ‘contacting us’ so we can accommodate your needs.
If you have hired your graduation attire, you will need to return this to us on the same day as your graduation, unless otherwise stated on your order confirmation. Times for returning the items are outlined in the ‘My Account’ area when you log in or can be viewed on your email order confirmation.
Our staff will be on hand at the returns area to help you ‘de-robe’. All robes are numbered, so you simply hand them back.
